Is rock music good or bad for mental health?

There have been several studies discussing this topic. Pubmed claims that there has been ``significant increases in hostility, sadness, tension, and fatigue, and significant reductions were observed in caring, relaxation, mental clarity, and vigor``. (McCraty, Barrios-Choplin, Atkinson, Tomasino,1998)

High pitch and aggressive sound in heavy metal might increase stress levels for some individuals.(BoySetsFire) Fans of rock seem to be more introverted,

However, other studies mention that rock music can positively impact the quality of the brain processes. That happens usually when people listen to light classical rock. Classical music supposedly work similarly. Loud music can also help with creativity as it is processed through high hemisphere. Rock might have also some connection to Logic skills. People preferring rock tend to be better in Physics and Math. Biological (Mosh, 2020)

Rock can be actually good for treatment of anxiety and depression. Due to its rhythmic nature it can decrease stress levels. It could be also used for its propriety to destruct unwanted thoughts. Commonly classical music would be used for this purpose. Calming effect of particular genre is up to the listener. (BoySetsFire)

It entirely depends on each individual which music style is going to impact their mood positively.
